Whitney Houston and Dana Bash

Whitney Elizabeth Houston, born 9 August 1963 to a musically inclined family in Newark New Jersey is the daughter of the gospel singers Cissy Houston and John Russell Houston Jr. Also, she is the sister of singer Dionne Warwick. In Newark Whitney, she began singing with the choir of the church when she was a young child. At the age 15 she joined her mom in backing vocals in Chaka's hit Im Every Woman from 1978. Her mother, Jermaine, and Lou Rawls were a few of the performers she performed with. The singer was also a model for Seventeen Magazine in 1981. The singer was first a featured vocalist for the New York-based New York Funk band Material. The quality of her vocal performance attracted the attention of major record label Arista where she signed up in 1983. Whitney Houston became the top-selling debut record for an artist in the year. My Love was her debut album. My Love was released in 1985 and became a number one smash. The album was sold to three million people in the first year as well as 25 million around the world. The album won her first six Grammy Awards. The Whitney album from 1987, which featured the songs that I Wanna Dance With Somebody and Where Do Broken Hearts Get to, continued her success. But it is The Bodyguard of 1992 that turned her into one of the biggest-selling performers in the history of music. Although her performance in the film as well as its soundtrack weren't well-received, the Dolly Parton cover I Will Always Love You and the accompanying album topped charts all over the world for several months.
